What Is Your Dream?

What do you truly want to accomplish with your life?

Why aren't you doing it?

I am dedicating all of this newsletter, most of AYearFromNow.com, the A Year From Now Forum, the Success Cooperative Forum, and other resources (see links below) to help you tell us your dream and to make it real. It is my hope that many others will find us and we can help each other identify our dreams, share them in public, plan how to achieve them, and then act to achieve our dreams in as little as a year from now.

I truly believe that change can be made much more quickly than we've been led to believe. I've also observed, however, that we'll stick with the devil we know rather than launching out into the unknown and potentially facing the devil we don't know.

You can either choose to delay until the effort and pain of continuing as you're going is much more difficult than making a change, or you can decide right now that you're going to make some changes and have a better life a year from now.

What are you waiting on?

Act on your dream!

This Act On Your Dream! newsletter and http://AYearFromNow.com are powered by Site Build It!, which I believe to be the very best website design, web hosting, and online promotion system available anywhere, at any price. No other service has so many integrated components that work together to help you build an online business -- all at a total cost of about a dollar per day.

This is not just a web hosting service where you can get your site up quickly and watch it die a slow death with no traffic. No other system can deliver the proof that so many of their users have succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. Site Build It! users do this by following the step-by-step instructions included with the system. Of course, you'll have to tailor the content of your site to suit your needs, but that's not so hard with a system that takes care of almost all the technical issues and leaves you with the easier task of building your business.

If you're interested in building a successful online business, take a quick tour of how SBI works to help you build a site that attracts visitors willing to buy what you offer.

Would you like to turn your passion into a great business? Site Build It! has helped people -- who never really believed they could do it -- to change their lives.

1. Success Cooperative: Taking a new direction

Ever since Dennis Mellersh observed that it looked like I was wanting to build a success cooperative, I've been thinking about how this could work.

It's been over a year since I last sent out a copy of this newsletter, and I think that is indicative of all the thought I've been putting into the direction I want AYearFromNow.com to proceed.

This has not been a simple process.

If I were selling a particular product or service, it would be easy. I can build a site for that purpose in a few days.

But, this is different. A success cooperative can take many forms, but it needs to focus on success and on cooperation.

For the purposes of this discussion, I'm going to consider success to mean that you've decided upon a goal you want to achieve, and then you've developed a plan to reach that goal. You'll encounter setbacks and obstacles, especially for a large goal, but persistence will pay off. If you never give up and keep working towards your destination, eventually you'll get there.

It may take years or it may take minutes.

But, the important thing is that success breeds success. The more you are able to complete intermediate goals, the closer you are to achieving your long-term goals.

The second part of a success cooperative is cooperating, or helping others.

When I first started thinking about this, I was focusing on nonprofit organizations. Apparently, I'm the only one who found that to be a compelling destination. So, as of this morning, I've completely rebuilt the Success Cooperative Forum and opened it into other directions.

Hopefully, you'll want to participate in the new forum. By doing so, you can promote what you're doing, ask for help in solving problems, offer advice to others, and help us attract more like-minded people. The more we do to help each other, the more each of us can succeed.

At least, that's the goal.

Come on and join in, or start a discussion of your own.

2. Taking my first steps to building a castle

I've had more than one person ask me if I'm out of my mind when they heard I plan to build a castle dedicated to the freedom to become what you want to be.

Yes, it's an unusual goal. Yes, it will cost a lot. Yes, it will take a lot of help from a lot of people.

So, why do it?

I want to build a place -- with the help of many others -- that will be dedicated to helping people succeed. One part of that goal is to show that normal people can band together and raise the money and build the first castle in the history of the world that was built by real people and not governments or royalty.

Just getting the castle built will be a symbol of what we can accomplish.

And, before you start to get worried, I'm not going to try to persuade you to be a part of this project. You're welcome to join in if you want, but it's something you're free to ignore, too.

Last year, I realized that I needed to find or create a venue to start talking about this project so I could reach a large number of individuals who may want to participate.

As I was thinking about this, I realized there was not a website devoted to promoting people, organizations, and businesses in my area. So, over the last year or so, I've created an infrastructure that I can use to help people promote what they're doing, and, in the process, build a place where I can also promote the idea of the castle, when the time is right.

My first attempt at creating A Portal for Cherokee County, NC, was going well for about nine months, until it was completely destroyed by someone in Egypt.

So, I learned my lesson about using open source content management software for building a website. Yes, it provided easy interactivity, but it also had serious security flaws. So, I moved in another direction. No more PHP-Nuke for me.

Nine months of effort was destroyed, but I rebuilt the site from the ashes of the previous one. This time, the site was built so it would be more difficult for someone to hack. Still possible, but not as likely.

Now, months later, I have a growing site that is stable and is building a readership.

My secret? I'm promoting what others are doing. By helping them, I believe, I can help myself in the future. Currently, it takes a lot of work and produces very little feedback and revenue, but that's the nature of starting a new enterprise. There is a lot of effort required upfront and a lot of money going out before we reach critical mass and a breakeven point. After that, synergy begins to build and revenue increases. I'm almost at that point, now.

I've been asked if this isn't pulling me off-track. I don't think so.

What do you think?

3. How can we help you?

This site, this newsletter, and this cooperative are about achieving the goals you want to achieve to help you make your dream real. Identify your dream. Act on your dream.

Pay it forward. Help others along the way.

Keep on working and you will eventually achieve what you set out to accomplish. Creativity, passion, action, and persistence are required to make your dream come true. Let's help each other succeed beyond our wildest imagination.

I'm all ears. How do you want to help build a Success Cooperative? What do you think about the idea? What needs to be done?

What do you want to do and how can we help you accomplish it?

Hit me right between the eyes with your feedback and ideas. I'm a big boy and I can take it.

What's your dream? It's up to you to find a way to make it happen.

We'll help, but YOU must act on your dream to make it real.

Until next time,

All the best,

JD
