Meet Beyonce Knowles

by Yasmeen
(Mundelein, Illinois, USA)

Nothing inspires me more than a woman who is humble with a heart of gold, yet is strong, successful, hard-working and downright amazing.

I've been inspired by people and celebrities, such as my mother, one of my favorite teachers, Oprah Winfrey, etc., but there is no one who has ever captured me and struck me with these qualities as hard as Beyonce Knowles has.

I've always been a fan of her music since Destiny's Child. It was music I would listen to when I was upset or down, when I needed encouragement, when I wanted to dance or when I felt on top of the world. I'd always keep up with her latest music and albums and great admiration for her, but on July 17, 2009 when I finally went to her I Am... concert in Chicago, IL, was the night that changed my life.

I went with two of my friends and was very excited, we arrived and managed to get closer to the stage than our original seats. When she had finally come out, I had never been so star struck before in my life. I've seen big concerts before -- Britney Spears, Carrie Underwood, Black Eyed Peas, and NONE of them had an effect on me like Beyonce did. Her presence was electrifying yet warm. Her beauty was inevitable, her voice was REAL and amazing, and her stage presence was like nothing I've seen before. When she had come out I cried, and once the crying stopped I was either up on my feet dancing to her upbeat songs or I was taken away by her beautiful angelic ballads that seriously made me spiritually connected, which I never have experienced because I'm not religious.

That night ended as the best night of my entire life. Yes, I'm only 18 years old, but there was just something I saw and felt at that concert that I'd never seen or felt in my life. I immediately became the biggest Beyonce fan at least in my hometown and everyone knew. I already had all her CDs and DVDs, but I went out and bought shirts, posters, everything. I watched her performances, interviews, events on youtube and couldn't help but become so inspired to be like the woman that Beyonce is, the ideal woman that every woman should strive to be. Yes, she's extremely successful and has sold millions, broken records, and has a huge fan base, but she worked her ass off to accomplish everything that she has today, not to mention has been blessed and gifted by God and I truly believe that.

My dream is to meet Beyonce. I already know this dream will not be an easy task, seeing she's always traveling and always has tons of security and bodyguards by her side, but I am so determined to accomplish this goal. I've figured my only two options are to either A) Save as much money as I can to participate in a meet & greet the next time she goes on tour or B) Save as much money as I can, go to New York or wherever she may be by the time, and do everything I can to find her. Plan A sounds like the safest one to use, although it does cost quite a lot of money. In order to start saving money, I picked up two jobs which I save 100 dollars every week to the "Meet Beyonce" fund. I should save about a grand in a short amount of time, then I have to wait until her next tour, which could be towards the end of 2010/ beginning 2011, or so I've seen in the news.

Whatever I have to do, I will do it. Some people might think I'm crazy for wanting to spend so much money for one night to meet her, but who wouldn't want to personally meet the one person who inspires and influences you the most in your life. Beyonce is the one person who keeps me going when I need that encouragement, understanding, and even to make me feel hot before I go out. She is the epitome of perfection, strength and the product of hard work, everything that I strive to be each day.

Whatever it takes, I WILL meet Beyonce Knowles.
