Murphy NC is the county seat of, and largest town in, Cherokee County, North Carolina.
Murphy was recently named as one of the best places in the country for a second home and new homes are being built all around the town.
While the job opportunities are not as good as they are in larger towns and cities, they are growing as more businesses are opened in our town.
Murphy NC is a popular retirement area and, in addition to local activities, we are about a two or three hour drive to five major cities that offer many educational, entertainment, and sporting activities.
Murphy NC, and the surrounding area offers outstanding outdoor recreational opportunities. Nearly everywhere you drive offers scenic views of our beautiful mountains, valleys, rivers, and lakes. Fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, biking, and other activities are popular for the people who live here and others who visit.

For several years, I tried to keep up with the local business news on my blogs and sites. However, now that both the Cherokee Scout and Cherokee Sentinel have good web sites, I've scaled back my business reporting. After all, they have a full staff and I'm just one person.
