What do I want? How do I get what I want?
We all ask ourselves those questions.
You know you want something, but you don't know how to get it. Perhaps you are not sure exactly what you want, but keep having a feeling that there should be more in your life.
We all go through this.
I know that there are times when I want something, but I'm not sure exactly what it is or how to go about getting it.
In many cases just deciding what I want -- clearly -- makes it easier to create a plan and go after it.
Going after what you want is a key. If you don't take action, you won't get it.
Mel Robbins recently gave a TED talk in San Francisco, where she addressed this very issue. Here's a video of her talk.
One of the things that really struck me while watching her presentation was her admonition to tell the truth, and not only to others, but to yourself.
If you are happy with something, say it.
If you are unhappy with something, say that, too.
Be honest with yourself.
Don't settle for less than you really want. Don't get trapped by routine and boredom. That's no way to live your life.
Of course, you can, if you want to. If you do, however, you'll never create and achieve the potential magnificence that is within you.
It's up to you.
Will it be easy? Possibly, but probably not. Most things we want require work and doing some things we don't enjoy, in order to get what we do want.
As Mel describes, we want to snooze in bed, but we can choose to get up and go after what we want.
It's great to dream about what you want. But, when you know for sure that you really want to make it happen, you have to act on your dream!
With work, who knows what you can achieve in a year from now.
Without working at it, you'll probably be right where you are right now.
Is that what you want?
When you ask yourself, "How do I feel?," is your answer, "I feel fine"? Are you being honest with yourself?
Decide what you want and then get up and go after it. If it's your dream, don't you owe it to yourself to make it your reality?
